Lockers have arrived!

The Dana 44 has been completely ripped apart. The new ring and pinion, ball joints, bearings, and seals are waiting to be picked up and the brand spankin' new ARB Air Lockers arrived today! A very exciting and motivation day.

Dana 44

Took out one of the axle shafts out of the Dana 44 today to confirm the spline count. They are 30 spline axles. Waiting on my quote for ARB parts and for the Nissan ring and pinion with bearing kit. The parts list is growing and the bank account keeps dropping.

Axle Prep

I have a line on a ARB air locker for the project and had to confirm the spline count of my axle. Online research told me that there were a few different axle spline options. Mine turns out to have 31 spline axles and the diameter of the axles is just over 1.3 inches

Lights!

Quick little impulse buy as I was cruising through Craigslist. Yes this is a budget build and Craigslist is an excellent source to find parts at reasonable price. I picked up these brand new, never been opened PIAA 510's. Cool little light. Haven't tested them out yet to see how bright they are but very excited to test them out. I am tentatively planning on mounting them in the tube bumper, once it is built.

The Axle

The axle. I had been looking high and low for a Dana 44 out of a Wagoneer. I had a buddy who had a dana 44 out of a Ford, but after some research I decided to go with the Jeep axle because of the 6 x 5.5 bolt pattern matched my Nissan rear Axle. Additionally, the Jeep axle has a very similar width of the Nissan's H233B rear axle. I managed to find a guy who had a Dana 44 out of a 1988 Grand Wagoneer. So a short ferry ride later, I had the new axle for the project.

Start of the Doubler

I found a guy off of Craigslist who was parting out his Nissan Project and I managed to score his NWF dual transfer case adapter and a beat up Dana 300 T-case. It did come with the HD inputs and outputs from JB conversions and a complete rebuild kit from Yukon. The unfortunate part was the guy didn't have the intermediate shaft that went between the two cases. So I called up NWF and they had one made up and sent to me within a couple weeks.

Wheeling V-Rock

We went camping in the summer up at Harrison Lake. From there we took a day trip to Sunrise lake where we had to go over the infamous V-Rock. The truck is rolling on 28" tires and made it up almost unscathed except for some rock rash on the driver side rocker. I smashed up the passenger side rocker pretty good a couple weeks before at a local 4x4ing spot.

Going up V-Rock

Start Up

The Project: 1994 Nissan Hardbody SE

The Plan:
- SAS - Using a 1988 Grand Wagaoneer Dana 44
- 3 Link Front Suspension - Use of Johnny Joints and DOM Tubing
- Air Lockers with 5.13 Gears
- Dual Transfer Cases - Nissan TX-10 and Dana 300 with a NWF adapter
-Tube Bumpers - Winch Mount
- 37" or 35" tires
- Rock Sliders
- Bobbed Bed

- Baja Light Rack

The Goal: To aid in teaching kids about Auto and inspire them in 4x4ing. To build a wicked rock truck that can go anywhere I can point it. Take it to moab to participate in the GoneMOAB event with other fellow Nissan Enthusiasts.

Here is the truck the day I bought it.
